Climate Change Awareness

Climate change awareness is an imperative to achieve sustainability. Lack of awareness is a significant barrier to climate change adaptation in developing countries. Raising climate change awareness at the local level is critical for Nigeria, as climate change impacts are exacerbating the number and extent of disasters in this country. Raising awareness and understanding of the effects of climate change on health will facilitate both behavioural change and societal support for the actions needed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It can also help in getting health-care professionals to support strategies for mitigation and adaptation that will both improve health and reduce vulnerability. Everyone has a role to play. As an individual, to raise awareness on climate change and demand support from the government and others in society, informing and educating people, communities, organizations on climate change is key.
