About Awifca
Arewa Women Initiative For Climate Change Advocacy and Environmental Sustainability (AWIFCA) is a women-led organisation founded in 2020 and officially registered with Nigeria’s Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) under registration number 164919. We are a non-partisan, non-religious, non-discriminatory, and non-profit organisation headquartered in Kano, Nigeria.
At AWIFCA, we are committed to addressing climate change through a comprehensive approach that includes education, advocacy, environmental action, and the empowerment of women and communities. Our initiatives range from large-scale tree planting and climate education programmes in secondary schools to research and advocacy on clean cooking and plastic pollution.
We work in collaboration with national and international partners to raise awareness, promote sustainability, and foster environmental responsibility. Whether it’s planting trees with ACRESAL and BUA Foods PLC, distributing life-saving water filters with SUKHI222, or engaging with regulatory bodies like NESREA, we remain steadfast in our mission to build a climate-conscious society for present and future generations.
