At Awifca, we believe in advocacy. We always take the opportunity to engage with people from different communities to raise awareness about climate change. By fostering awareness, capacity building, and innovation, climate change learning helps communities and individuals reduce greenhouse gas emissions and effectively adapt to the changing climate.
On October 21st, 2021, Awifca planted 1000 seedlings at some selected primary schools. This was part of our organization’s effort to strengthen children’s resilience to climate change because children can be champions in addressing the climate crisis.
Our first annual tree planting event took place on October 20th, 2021. We planted 8000 seedlings at some senior high schools within the Kano metropolis. The project increased student awareness and knowledge of the concept of how tree planting is effective in carbon storage and capture.
Awifca donated 1000 seedlings to Dutse Polytechnic in Jigawa State on October 18th, 2021. This shows our action and local commitment to climate change mitigation and adaptation.
Awifca organized a climate change awareness march in Kano state on 24th September 2021. As everyone in society has a role to play in raising awareness on climate action and demanding support of higher ambitions by the government and others in society.
