Data from the WHO estimates that exposure to smoke from the simple act of cooking constitutes the fifth-worst risk factor for diseases in developing countries.
Northern Nigeria is among the regions with the largest population without access to clean cooking. According to the Energy Commission of Nigeria, more than 60% of Nigerians lack access to clean cooking, causing problems associated with HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT, SOCIAL, AND ECONOMY.
Efficient, effective, and low-carbon development strategies must target women as essential stakeholders to support sustainable development and effective climate change responses.
We are advocating for universal access to clean cooking. This will lead to improved health, reduced climate and environmental impacts, empowered women, and improved livelihood. Resource
